Chef of War is a cinematic graphic novel series about a native leader caught between battle, tradition, hunger, and humanity. We designed and built the pre-launch brand site: a single-page cinematic reveal that turns first-look visitors into a founding audience.

The brief
A graphic novel series needed a front door before its first issue ships. The site had to sell a mood, not a product: draw readers into the world of a native leader who feeds and heals his people by night and defends them by day, then convert that first look into a founding audience worth launching to.
The build
A single cinematic page, hand-built as a fast static site. A poster-led hero carries the logline; the story unfolds through a War-and-Kitchen split ("two sides of the same fire"), a framed gallery, and a teaser modal. "Join the tribe" captures email through Netlify Forms with honeypot spam protection. Security headers, a skip link, ARIA roles, and a live form status ship in the box.
The world
"They came from across the sea like ghosts in floating mountains. I saw their fear. I saw their hunger. I saw their humanity." The site holds that voice: culture, survival, hunger, and identity, told through one leader who learns the strangers are human too. Built for panels, inspired by history, staged so the story arrives before the sale.
