The brief
A multi-generational recipe collection that lived in handwritten notebooks and family group chats. The mandate was to give it a permanent online home: bilingual, easy for older relatives to navigate, and beautiful enough that grandchildren actually want to use it.
The build
Static-first site with a recipe schema designed around how Puerto Rican home kitchens actually work: sofrito-as-ingredient, plural amounts ("a handful"), regional substitutions. Spanish is the primary locale; English is parallel, not an afterthought. Mobile-first so the recipe survives a wet thumb in the kitchen.
The outcome
The family's three generations of kitchen practice now live in one searchable, shareable place. The site reads like the kitchen sounds: warm, specific, never sterile.
